Lenox China PEEPS®

Just Born, Inc., the company that makes PEEPS®, uses Lisa Marks and Associates, Inc., (LMA) to handle the licensing of PEEPS brand products. The June issue of Royalties reported that LMA is working with Lenox for some new porcelain and china PEEPS.

I contacted Lenox this week and learned that they plan to introduce PEEPS in October. We can expect them to begin shipment of these items in early January 2009. Oh well, no china PEEPS for my Christmas this year. Even though everyone knows PEEPS are Always in Season™ (and for me that means yellow chicks are always in season), I guess Lenox is just thinking ahead to spring.

More PEEPS® checks!

Until today, I didn't realize there was more than one set of PEEPS® checks to be had. Several check-printing companies offer this PEEPS & Love design for checks, which is different from the design on my PEEPS checks:

PEEPS & Love checks

I wonder if the presence of green PEEPS on the checks labeled "all I want is Peeps on earth" means that green PEEPS will be back in 2009.

A Brave AstroPeep

I'd like to call him a Peeponaut, but that doesn't make sense linguistically. In line with the word astronaut, it would mean he sails PEEPS®. To be more exact, since he didn't actually make it to the stars, I suppose should call him a CosmoPeep. Still, AstroPeep means he's a PEEP of the stars. And that's what his crew named him. So what did this brave PEEP® do? On April 5, 2008, he manned Peeped a high-altitude balloon that went nearly 97,000 feet above the surface of the Earth. See Chicago's Adler Planetarium's slide show for more images, including photos of the selection and training of the PEEP® with the right stuff.

My New PEEPS® Checks

PEEPS checks

I received the shipping notice for my PEEPS® checks today.

It wasn't until I started looking around that I noticed that all PEEPS® checks aren't the same. Mine come from Image Checks. Including shipping and handling, I paid only $11.38 for two boxes of 150 wallet singles each, using a coupon code I found.

I used to think that cutesy pictures didn't belong on negotiable instruments. Even though I've seen a variety of check designs, I've stayed with the look of your basic safety paper, with a design like this:

Traditional safety paper design

I was going to order Image's variation on blue safety paper, as a matter of fact, but I didn't like the pantograph. It looked too wavy, and the safety feature was missing behind the area for me to write the numerical amount. When I clicked a link to see other designs, I learned about PEEPS checks. Of course, I had to make them mine. And who cares if the area for the numerical amount is white as long as there's a PEEP on the check?

Original Yellow PEEPS® Are Best

While I appreciate the fact that Just Born, Inc. has branched out to offer multiple colors of PEEPS® chicks and many other shapes for other seasons, there's still a place in my heart for the original yellow chicks.

I'll be expressing my devotion to the purity of the original, but I won't be able to pass up a few PEEPS happenings that also include the yellow chicks' friends.
