PEEPS® Roast

The June issue of Better Homes and Gardens advocates a PEEPS® roast instead of a traditional marshmallow roast (page 226). Although BH&G pictures a yellow bunny with a stick jammed up its bottom, they do mention the entire menagerie of Peeps that expand in "unpredictable ways." They also note that roasted PEEPS appeal to kids' fascination with both the cute and the gross.

Some Joke!

Today, District of Columbia Council Member Mary Cheh circulated a memo to other members of the council with budget recommendations for the next fiscal year.

Recommendation #2 called for the council to "create a special, non-lapsing fund to be known as the 'Peeps Ceremonial Fund.' The Fund shall be used to support grants for District residents to create and submit entries to the annual Washington Post Peeps Contest and such further efforts to support Peeps as the Mayor, in his sole discretion, deems appropriate."

Sounds like a terrific idea, yes? DCist labeled it an "outlandish joke." Too bad!

Keep PEEPS® Pure!

This from the Cleveland Plain Dealer: Just Born, Inc. has filed suit filed in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis against Recycled Paper Greetings (owned by American Greetings Corp. of Brooklyn) for trademark infringement, false advertising, counterfeiting and deception for RPG's cards featuring likenesses of PEEPS® chicks.

After this is straightened out, Just Born should license Hallmark or some other trustworthy company to feature PEEPS® in greeting cards, and not just for Easter. I'd like to send PEEPS birthday cards all year long.

Weren't PEEPS greeting cards supposed to have been licensed for last Easter anyway? I never saw them. Did you?
